In the recent past, the Laws of chess and other arbiter related matters have undergone a lot of changes (even after the last State Arbiter seminar in February 2023). Hence, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association has decided to organise a one-day refresher course for the state arbiters of Tamil Nadu on 8th April, 2023 and 9th April, 2023. The following district chess associations have come forward to conduct the same against the dates mentioned.
08.04.2023: Sivagangai, Salem, Tirunelveli and Tiruvallur.
09.04.2023: Namakkal, Tirupattur and Tiruvarur.
The refresher course will deal with the following topics:
Laws of Chess emphasising the recent changes, basic ideas of Swiss pairing, round robin tournaments, basic ideas of rating regulations, role of arbiters, tiebreak regulations effective from July 2023, regulations for the competitions (registration, bid forms, final report etc.) and introduction to Swiss Manager.
The registration fee for the course is Rs.500/- per candidate. Only those who attend this refresher course will be officially recognised to serve as an arbiter in the district chess championships, tournaments and state level tournaments. Other state arbiters are liable not to be permitted to serve as arbiters. The filled in gform should be submitted on or before 5.00 pm on 4th April, 2023. (All the arbiters attending the refresher course must have been registered with TNSCA as arbiter by paying the registration fee of Rs.250/- for the year 2023 – 2024).
