Tiruvarur star player A.Harshini emerged Champion with cent percent score after the ninth round of the 44th CA Honda Tamil Nadu State Women’s Chess Championship 2016 held at Rasammal Thirumana Mandapam, Tiruvarur. Harshini continued her winning spree with a win over Dakshinya T R S of Tirupur tomake it nine round win in a row and pocketed the champion’s purse of Rs.9000/-
Harshini (9) was followed by top seed Woman FIDE Master Saranya J (7.5). Further half a point behind at 7.0 points were Woman International Master Pon N Krithika, Janani J, Varsha C R and Saranya Y respectively. The top four players qualify for the National Challengers to be held in Chennai later this year.
It was Harshini all the way, as she accounted for top two seeds WFM Saranya J and WIM Pon N Krithika on her title march. This happens to be the third TN State Women title for the Tiruvarur girl. She had won the TN State Under 13 & Sub Junior (U-15) titles in the past. The nine round FIDE Rated Swiss event attracted 112 entries. It included three titled players among 84 FIDE rated players.
The Cash prizes and trophies were distributed by J Kanagarajan, Aanmeegam Aanandham, G Anbarasan, Rotarian District Chair and V R N Panneerselvam, District Basketball Chairman.
