BavanKumar J and Reshma C R are the Champions.
Sri Kaliswari Fire Works and Sree Sowdambika College of Engineering organised 19th Tamil Nadu State Under-25 Open & 16th Women chess championship was inaugurated by Sri. Rathinam Raja, Correspondent of Sree Sowdambika College on 3rd May 2017. This Championship was organised by Sivakasi Chess Club which attracted 70 players in open and 18 in women section respectively.
Balakannamma, Jayakumaar, Bavankumar (Chennai), Manigandan (Madurai) and Yeshwanthraj (Kanchi) shared the lead with full points at the end of 3rd round. Bavankumar beat Manigandan and took sole lead with 4 points. C.R.Aasha (kanchi) shared the lead with him in 6th round with 4.5 points each. But Kanchi girl lost to Bavan. A.Ra. Harikirshnan, IM elects followed the leader Bavankumar with 6 points in the penultimate round. In final round Bavankumar beat Kumar and won the 19th TN State under 25 open championships with 8 points. Harikrishna and Jayakumaar were in 2nd & 3rd place respectively.
In Women section C.R.Reshma (Kanchi) was the sole leader with full points at the end of 3rd round. Jayashri K K and Jothi Sankari M (Virudhunagar) followed her with 2.5 points each. Madhumitha R (Chennai) took sole lead with 5 points after 6th round. Reshma and Jayashri finished the final round with 5.5 points each, but better tie break helped Reshma of Kanchi to clinch the 16th TN State under 25 women chess championship.
Shri. Baskar Raja, Secretary of Sree Sowdambika College of Engineering distributed the prizes to the winners.
