After the fifth round (3.5.2016) we got three joint leaders in TN State U-17 open section. On the top board Elancheralathan P (Chennai) drew with the black pieces against the defending champion Sai Vishwesh.C (Chennai). On the second board the top seed Iniyan P (Erode) won against Shakthi Vishal J (Thoothukudi) and on the third board Prathish A (Madurai) lost to Vaisnav M (Tirupur).
On the other hand we have a tough fight going-on in girls section with four players leading after the fifth round. In the 6th round Kavitha P L (Salem) takes Abrama Srinithi G (Erode) on the top board with white pieces, whereas in the second board Tejasvi M (Chennai) faces Varsha. C.S (Kanchipuram) with white pieces.
