PRO Chess 1st FIDE Rated Chess Tournament 2017, Erode
The “Pro Chess” 1st FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament was organized by Lesunathan Chess Academy from 16th to 19th November 2017 at Taxvally, Erode. This event was inaugurated by Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, MP and Former Union Minister for Health. This event attracted 4 IM, 1 FM, 1 CM, 358 FIDE rated players and 158 unrated players which to tally 522 players, from 7 states, 2 affiliated special units and 2 players from Singapore.
Senthil Maran K with winner cash prize of Rs. 60,000/- & winner trophy
After several well fought games Senthil Maran K of Tamil Nadu won the tournament with 7.5 points out of 8 rounds with better tiebreak than Ram S Krishnan of BSNL. The tournament Organizer’s provided T-Shirts to all the players and Arbiters which is a unique gesture. The prize distribution ceremony was organized in a grand manner in the presence of Ms. S Nirrupama, President Rotary Club of Karur Angels as Chief Guest and the guest of honor Shri. M V Srinivasa Moorthy, Director Karur Vysya Bank Ltd, & Shri. Preiyaswamy P, Chairman Texvally distributed the prizes. The other guests of honor were Ms. Hareitha S, Asst Commercial Manager, South Western Railway and Mr. Radhakrishnan of Latha Garments.
