Jeevanandam won the LITTLE ENGLAND 2nd International FIDE Rated Chess Tournament (Below 1600)
The LITTLE ENGLAND 2nd International fide rated chess tournament (below 1600) was organized by Viyugam Chess Academy (VCA) and Ananthi Chess Academy (ACA) held at Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Hosur. The Prize fund of Rs.3,00,000 was split into 25 main prizes, 26 rating category prizes and 55 trophies for age category players.

The three day tournament was inaugurated Mr. Aravind B K, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, in the presence of Dr. G.Ranganath, Principal, ACE, Mr. Vijayaraghavan, Joint Secretary, TNSCA, Mr. Jayapala Chandady, Founder President, KDCA, Mr. Yuvachandran, Secretary, Krishnagiri DCA, Mr. Dhenagaran, Secretary, Trichy DCA, Mr. Pragadesh, Tournament Director, Mr. Lokesh, Organizing Secretary and Mr. Ganesh Babu, Chief Arbiter.
Four hundred and ninety-nine players from 2 countries and 14 districts participated in this nine round Swiss format tournament out of which 280 players were internationally rated.
V S Sivakumar of Tamil Nadu with an Elo rating of 1587 was the top seed, followed by Jeevanandam of Tamil Nadu, Kousik Sarun Reddy from Tamil Nadu are second seeded and third seeded respectively. The first round witnessed a mild upset when 255th seeded Ramprasath of Tamil Nadu held sixth seeded Durga Prasad of Andhra Pradesh. In the round 2, Top seeded Sivakumar lost to Sharan Sriram, while the second seeded Sasikumar suffered a defeat in the hands of Appas. Upsets continued in round 3, where third seeded Kousik Sarun Reddy and fifth seeded Thiruvangadam lost to Ashok and Leelajai Krishnan respectively. Top players struggle continued in the fourth round as well.
Five players lead the tournament with 5.0 points at the end of fifth round. After round 6, Two players Jeevanandam and Gowtham shared the lead with 6.0 points. Individual encounter between the leaders in the seventh round, Jeevanandam took the lead by defeating Gowtham with 7.0 points. Jeevanandam drew with Kesavan in the eighth round and maintained his lead by half a point. He was closely followed by four players with 7.0 points. In the crucial final round, Kesavan won his game against Karun Gaurav to tie for the first place with Jeevanandam who held to a draw by Surya Thangavel. Jeevanandam won the tournament with better tie break score and a cash award of Rs.60,000 plus trophy, Kesavan settled for the second place and won a cash award of Rs.40,000 plus trophy.
Prizes were distributed by Mr. Sathik Basha, Sports Chairman, Titan Industries PVT Limited, in the presence of Mr. Jayapala Chandady, Founder President, KDCA, Mr. Yuvachandran, Secretary, KDCA, Mr. Dhenagaran, Secretary, TDCA, Mr. Pragadesh, Tournament Director, Mr.Ganesh Babu, Chief Arbiter. Mr.Lokesh, Organizing Secretary delivered the vote of thanks.
