Harish KarthikManikandan of Tamil Nadu won the title
492 players were participated in the Valliammai Below 1600 FIDE rated Chess tournament held at Avichi Higher Secondary School, Virugambakkam, Chennai from 30th December, 2019 to 1st January, 2020.
The tournament was conducted with 9 rounds swiss system as individual event. There are four way tie between Harish KarthikManikandan, Vakeesh S, Dhilip Kumar M and TharunPranav G B with 8 points each out of possible 9 rounds for the title. All the four players were from Tamil Nadu but a better buchholz tie-break system helped Harish Karthik to lift the glittering title trophy along with Rs.25,000/- cash.
Grandmaster R.B. Ramesh was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution function and gave away the prizes to the winners and give motivational speech to the players.
