20th Tamil Nadu IM Norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament

The 20th Tamil Nadu IM Norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament organised by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association and Coimbatore District Chess Association commenced today at Hotel Alankar Grande, Coimbatore.
Master G. Akash of Coimbatore defeated IM Touzane Olivier in the first round.
Six International Masters, IM Buscara, Sevan & IM Touzane, Olivier both from France, IM Gochelashvili, David of Russia, IM Sitnikov Anton of Ukraine, IM Shyaam Nikhil P and IM Kushagra Mohan from India along with WIM K Priyanka from India are participating in this tournament, besides FM Jeet Jain of Delhi, Arjun C Krihanamachari and G. Aakash of Tamil Nadu are the 10 total participants.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr. M. Manickam, President Tamil Nadu State Chess Association & Chairman, Sakthi Group of Companies, Coimbatore, Guest of Honour Mr. Senthil Chinnasamy, President, Coimbatore DCA, Prof R. Ananthram, Mr. Vijayaragavan, Vice Presidents TNSCA, IA Peter Joseph, Chief Arbiter and Mr. Dhanasekar, Secretary, Coimbatore DCA were present at the inauguration.
In the Presidential address Dr. Manickam recalled the activities of the past 19 IM Norm events and also mentioned that so far our players achieved 8 IM Norms from those events.
