23rd Tamil Nadu IM Norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament 2024
The 23rd edition of Tamil Nadu IM norm closed circuit chess tournament (AICF Event code 377579/TN/2024) organised by Tamil Nadu Chess Association at Abu Sarovar Portico, Chennai from 6th August, 2024 to 12th August, 2024
The tournament was inaugurated by Grandmaster R R Laxman, in the presence of Thiru. Stephen Balasamy P, General Secretary, TNSCA, Thiru. R. Srinivasan, Treasurer, TNSCA, Thiru. B.H. Vasanth, Chief Arbiter and Thiru.R. Srivatsan, Tournament, Coordinator.
IM Slizhevsky Alexander (2381) from Russia, FM Daaevik Wadhawan (2323 from India, GM Manik Mikulas (2320) from Slovakia, GM Annageldyev Orazly (2271) from Turkmenistan, IM Gochelashvili David (2230) from Russia. WGM Uuriintuya Uurtsaikh (2212) from Mongolia and CM Aakash G (2314), FM Harshad S ( 2275), Sai Vishwesh C (2233) and WIM Tejaswini G (2051) all from India were the participants of this 9 game round robin tournament.
FM Harshad S had an exceptional performance, scoring 7.5 out of 9 rounds. He drew with GM Manik Mikulas (2320) from Slovakia, CM Aakash G (2314) from India and IM Slizhevsky Alexander (2381) from Russia. He scored a half point over the required 7 points with a rating average of 2259, he earned the IM Norm certificate.
WGM Uuriintuya Uurtsaikh from Mongolia performed well, winning games against five players and drawing with IM Slizhevsky Alexander from Russia, IM Slizhevsky Alexander from Russia. She finished runner-up in the tournament with 6 points out of 9 rounds.
These outstanding performances made the tournament an exciting and competitive event in the world of chess, with players achieving their International Master Norms.
