Lecture by IA Rathinam Anantharam
A FIDE Arbiter seminar and the examination were organised by Salem District Chess Association, on behalf of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, All India Chess federation and FIDE at Narasu’s Sarathy Institute of Technology, Salem from 13th to 15th December 2019. Forty participants from eight states participated in the seminar under the Vision 2020 programme. Prof.R. Anantharam IA and Swapnil Bansod IA were the lecturer and assistant lecturer respectively. Mr. Nithish Harihar, Chairman Narasu’s Sarathy Institute of Technology inaugurated the seminar in the august presence of M. Senthilvel, Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, N. Arun Secretary, Salem District Chess Association and Dr. Munusami Viswanathan Principal, NSIT.

All the topics including Laws of Chess, Swiss Pairing, Title, Rating and Arbiter regulations were dealt elaborately by both lecturers. Case studies, examples and calculations were discussed in detail. The participants attended the programme with vigour and enthusiasm and had a good interaction with the lecturers. The examination was held at 02.00 PM on Sunday 15th December. All the candidates attended the examination.
