Athens of the East 3rd State Level Children Chess Tournament 2019
Shyam Sundar and Mahimithranarasu won the title in both the sessions
Two State level events conducted in a day organized by Ananthi Chess Academy, Madurai on 6th Januray, 2019 at World Tamil Sangam, Madurai. Session A with Under-7, 9, 11, 13 & 17 categories attracted 271 players and Session B with Under-8, 10, 12, 14 & 18 Categories attracted 269 players from all over Tamil Nadu. Winner of the each category in Session A awarded with a Bicycle and Winner of the each category in Session B was awarded with a Chess Clock.
Two players Mahimithranarasu of Thanjavur and Sannah of Chennai were tied for the first place in Under-7 with 5.0 out of 5 rounds and Mahimithranarasu was declared as the winner after the play-offs conducted between them. Yashwant of Madurai won the Under-9 category with 5. Points. V S Nandish of Coimbatore defeated L S Rajesh of Tirunelveli in play-offs to claim the title in under -11. Arul Anand S P K of Coimbatore won the Under 13 category with 5.0 points. M Shyam Sundar of Madurai won the play-offs against S Arvinth Shanmugam of Madurai and won the title in Under-17 Category.
Prizes were distributed for Session A by Shri. R Anantharam, Vice President, TNSCA. Other guests present on the dais were Mr. Kunal, IM Title Holder, Ms. P Abinaya, President, ACA, Mr. P Pragadesh, Secretary, ACA, Ms. Rajadharshini, Secretary, DCA and IA Ganesh Babu, Chief Arbiter. Mr.Pragadesh, Organizing Secretary delivered the vote of thanks.
Session B had 291 players, Mahimithranarasu of Thanjavur defeated Mukesh of trichy in play-offs to claim the title in under-8 Category. Jack Samuel of Dindigul went onto win against Bharath Mathiazhagan in the play-offs and won the under-10 category title. Rohith of Sivagangai won the Under-12 category with 4.5 points. Sriram K of Madurai won the Under 14 category with 5.0 points. Shyam Sundar of Madurai won the title in Under-18 category.
Prizes were distributed for Session B by Shri. Abdul S Nazar, Joint Secretary, TNSCA. Other guests present on the dais were Mr. Shanmugam, Former Secretary, Karur, Ms. P Abinaya, President, ACA, Mr. P Pragadesh, Secretary, ACA, Ms. Rajadharshini, Secretary, DCA and IA Ganesh Babu, Chief Arbiter.
