Women Grandmaster Aarthie inaugurates Velammal – AICF Women GM Round Robin Chess Tournament
Former National Champion WGM Aarthie Ramaswamy made a symbolic first move against the top seed Munguntuul Batkhuyag of Mongolia signifying the inauguration of the Velammal – AICF International Women Grandmaster Round Robin Chess tournament 2019 held at Hotel Abu Sarovar Portico, Kilpauk, Chennai here today.
The eleven round round robin event is a unique event that offers Indian Woman International Masters a great opportunity to make their WGM Norms and complete their title requirements under home conditions. The field consists of six Indian WIMs viz., Aakanksha Hagawane (2259), Sapale Saloni (2198), Michelle Catherina P (2175), Varshini V (2171), Divya Deshmukh (2168), Chandreyee Hajra (1925) – facing six foreign titled players viz., IM Munguntuul Batkhuyag (Mongolia) 2428, IM Osmak Iulija (Ukraine) 2394, IM Nakhbayeva Guliskhan (Kazahkstan) 2336, WGM Uuriintuya Uurtsaikh (Mongolia) 2314, WGM Babiy Olga (Ukraine) 2275, WIM Franco Valencia Angela (Colombia) 2107
