ONGC 50th Tamil Nadu State Women Chess Championship 2022 organised by Tiruvarur District Chess Association was inaugurated by Tiruvarur MLA Shri. Poondi K Kalaivanan on 2nd January 2022 at Srimathi Rasammal Thirumana Arangam, Tiruvarur in the presence of Shri.N.Shanthakumar, President, Tiruvarur District Chess Association, Shri. R.K.Balagunasekaran, Secretary, Tiruvarur district chess association & Joint secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association Rtn. J.Kanakarajan was the chief guest other guests present on the dais were Tiruvarur district chess association office bearers and the welcome speech was given by Rtn.B.Balajai Venkatraman.
The championship attracted 94 players from 24 districts across Tamil Nadu State. Miss P. Balakannamma of Chennai was the top seed. Championship will be held from 2nd to 6th January, 2022 with Swiss system in 9 rounds with a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment from move no. 1. Total cash prize of Rs.75,000/- is spread over 20 prizes.
