Ram S Krishnan of BSNL won the 6th Radha Thiagarajan Memorial State level Open chess tournament

6^th RadhaThiagarajan Memorial State level Open & Children Chess Tournament 2020 

Ram S Krishnan of BSNL won the 6^th Radha Thiagarajan Memorial State level Open chess tournament, organized by Thiagarajar College of Engineering & Golden Knight Chess Academy, Madurai. This two days State Level Open and Category tournament attracted 306 entries from 23 districts was held on 8^th and 9^th of February, 2020 in Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.

The open category attracted 84 entries. Ram S Krishnan received the Radha Thiagarajan Memorial Rolling Trophy and a cash prize of Rs.5000/- for the second time, previously he won the title in the 1^st edition, Selva Murugan of Madurai finished 2^nd with 7.0 points and Srimathi of Madurai finished 3^rd with 6.5 points.

Categories for U8, U10, U12 and U15 was held along with the open section. Vishnu Vairamuthu of Madurai won the U8 Boys section with a score of 7.0/8.0 and R Charudharshini of Kanchi won the girls section with a score of 7.0/8.0. Bharath Mathiazhagan of Namakkal won the U10 Boys section with a score of 7.0/8.0 and A Solaiyammal of Madurai won the girls section with a score of 6.0/8.0. R S Narenraj of Madurai won the U12 Boys Section with a score of 7.0/8.0 and M Saradha of Sivagangai won the girls section with a score of 6.0/8.0. Prakaash S A Krishna of Madurai  won the U15 Boys section with a score of 7.5 pts out of 8 rounds and M Gayathri of Madurai won the girls section with a score of 5.0 pts out of 8 rounds.

Prizes were distributed by Mr. Abhai Kumar, Principal, TCE. Other guests present on the dais were Dr. Muthuramalingam, Associate Dean for all sports, TCE, Dr. Vinoth, Coordinator for Sports, TCE, Mr. G K Raajesh, Placement Officer, TCE and International Arbiter S Ganesh Babu, Secretary, GKCA.
