The much awaited Athens of the East Category ‘B’ international rating tournament started in Madurai on 10th August, 2019 after a formal move made by Grandmaster Abhijeet Gupta, top seed of the Category “A” tournament over the DGT chess board. 445 players from all over India are in the fray in this tournament for players of below 1700. Three national federations are being represented in this 10 rounds event played from August 10th to 13th.
Anandhi chess academy is the organizer of the Athens of the East 1st International Grandmaster Open Chess Tournament 2019 to be held at Poppys hotel, Madurai from August 10 to 18, 2019. Apart from this main event there are two more categories namely Category B for players who are below 1700 and Category C for players who are below 1600.
