The 32nd Tamil Nadu State U – 9 Open & Girls Chess Championship – 2019 being organized by Chennai District Chess Association with the joint efforts of T-Nagar Chess Academy on behalf of the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association.
373 players from almost 28 districts of our state particularly from Ariyalur, Chennai, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kanchi, Kanyakumari, Karur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Nilgris, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Raya Vellore, Salem, Sivagangai, Thanjavur, Thiruvallur, Thoothukudi, Tiruchirapalli, Tiruppur, Thiruvarur, Villupuram and Virudhunagar had taken part in this championships.
5 days of enthusiasm and enjoyment were experienced by all the promising future masters. G. Aakash from Coimbatore District had clinched the title in the Open category and V Sagana Priya from Thiruvallur district had clinched the girls title.
The Prize distribution ceremony took place on the final day, the 24th May, 2019. The General Secretary of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, Shri. P Stephen Balasamy was the guest of honour who delivered the special address. Eminent Vice-President of TNSCA and Chennai DCA – Advocate Shri. B Murugavel, Most-Esteemed and Distinguished Chief Guest – Secretary of AVM Rajeshwari Educational Trust Shri. A.V.M. Shanmugam, Vice President of Chennai DCA, Renowned Deputy Sports Editor of The Hindu News magazine Mr. V.V. Ramanan, Reputed President of Lions Club of Chennai Golden Stars Shri. Nallamuthu Raja were all in the dais.

Prizes were distributed by the special guests and dignitaries on the dais, especially Mr. Umesh Jain, Mr. Nagarajan, Mr. Jaikar, Mr. Nallamuthu, Mr. AVM. Shunmugam the Chief Guest, General Secretary Mr. Stephen Balasamy and Mr. Ramanan.
Joint Secretary of Chennai DCA and International Arbiter Sakthi Prabhakar conveyed the vote of thanks.
