32nd Tamil Nadu State Under 07 (Open & Girls) Chess Championship 2019
Tamil Nadu State Under 07 (Open & Girls) Chess Championship 2019 was successfully organized here at Notre Dame of Holy Cross School (CBSE), Salem. The Championships was inaugurated by Rtn.K.Muthuvenkattappan-President, Rotary Club Salem South in the presence of Mr.J.Balakrushnun, President-Salem District Chess Association, Mr.N.Arun, Secretary-Salem District Chess Association, Rtn.S.V.Madheswaran, and IA T Shyam Sundar, Chief Arbiter of the championship. The championship was conducted in two categories for open & Girls with 9 round events. The championship attracted 140 participates in open and 73 participates in girls from 26 districts all over from Tamil Nadu. Top 2 finishers from this championship both in open & girls will be representing Tamil Nadu State in the National Under 07 Open & Girls Chess Championship 2019 respectively.
In the open event after round 6 Vishnu Vairamuthu and Jaiakash were joint leader with 6/6. Both leaders meet on round 7, Jaiakash MM won the game and became the sole leader of the open section, but his run was stopped by Hem Harsanth in round 8. On the final round – Sarvesh G, Vishnu Vairamuthu, Hem Harsanth BS and Jaiakash MM were with 7 points each. Sarvesh won his game with Vishnu Vairamuthu and Hem Harsanth, Jaiakash won their respectively games. All three were with 8 points, but the better tie-break helped Sarvesh G from Trichy to clinch the 32nd Tamil Nadu State Under 07 (Open) Chess Championship 2019 title.
In girls event Sreekarthika Velmurugan dominated the event by winning straight 8 games. But she was holded by her district mate Charudharshini R in the final round. Even though, Sreekarthika with full point lead very comfortably won the 32nd Tamil Nadu State Under 07 (Girls) Chess Championship 2019 title.
The Salem District Chess Association conducted the event in an great way, giving prizes for all 213 players. Apart from 20 main cash prizes in each event Salem DCA gave 2 brand new cycles for the winner of Open & Girls event. The prizes are distributed by the Chief guest Rtn. T. Obuli Raj, Secretary, Rotary Club Salem South in the presence of Mr. M.Senthilvel, Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, Rtn. S.R.Ramesh, IA Shyam Sundar, Chief Arbiter and other dignitaries.
Final Standings (Open): 1-3 Sarvesh G (Trichy), Jaiakash M M (Madurai), Hem Harsanth BS (Namakkal) 8.0 points; 4-9 Vishnu Vairamuthu (Madurai), Nivethan GM (Raya Vellore), Thanvanth V (Namakkal), Lakshin Yugan C T (Virudhunagar), Faheem S (Trichy), Nijesh R (Chennai) 7.0 points; Mahimithranarasu T I (Thanjavur) 6.5 points
Final Standings (Girls): 1. Sreekarthika Velmurugan (Kanchipuram) 8.5 points; 2. Charudharshini R (Kanchipuram) 7.5 points; 3-7 Umauthra M (Salem), Tharunika Shankari K (Coimbatore), Sannah M (Chennai), Monisha AM (Tiruvarur), Kapa Rithika (Chennai) 7 points; 8-10 Varshini M (Kanchipuram), Poorani K (Chennai), Sadhana PM (Namakkal) 6 points.
