Tamil Nadu State Chess Association will be organizing a chess problem solving contest at the Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Periamet on 30.12.2018 at 3.00 p.m. This event will serve as a prelude and practice for the International Solving Contest (ISC) to be held on 27.1.2019 at the same venue. The duration of the contest will be two hours from 3.00 to 5.00 p.m. Entry fee will be Rs.50 per solver. Entries are accepted at the venue
There will be two categories-
Category I for experienced solvers
Six problems–2 mate in two-movers, 1 mate in three mover, 1 helpmate in three moves, 1 selfmate in two moves and 1 endgame study will be given for solving
Category II for newcomers to problems
Six problems–4 two-movers, 1 three-mover and 1 endgame study
Prizes will be awarded to the top three solvers in each category besides special prizes for children up to 13 years of age. C.G.S. Narayanan, FIDE master for chess compositions, will be co-ordinating the event. Solvers are requested to be present by 2.45 p.m to get apprised about any further details of the contest.
Important: Solvers are requested to bring their own chess sets without fail
