Vellore Fort Chess Academy 1st Tamil Nadu State Level Open and Children Chess Tournament 2018 organized by Vellore Fort Chess Academy under the auspicious of Vellore District Chess Association on 1st & 2nd December, 2018 at Sri Venkateswara Higher Sec. School, Vellore. The event was inaugurated by Thiru. C. Ramamurthy, Head Master of Sri Venkateswara Higher Sec. School, Vellore in the august presence of Mr. S. Manikandaswamy, Vice President of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, Mr. S.Balaraman, Chief Arbiter and Joint Secretary of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, Mr. E. Shanmugam, Vice President, Vellore District Chess Association and Mr. P. Manoharan of Vellore District Chess Association.
Total of 297 players from 12 district namely Chennai, Cuddalore, Krishnagiri, Kanchipuram, Salem, Theni, Tirunelveli, Tiruvallur, Tirupur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram and the host Vellore participated in this state level chess tournament.
Open category title winner Ram S Krishnan receives open cash prize of Rs.5000/-
On 2nd December, 2018 the prize distribution was presided over by Mr. E. Shanmugam, Vice President, Mr. Selvaraj, Mr. Murugan, Mr. Gopi and Mr. S. Manikandaswamy, Vice President of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association and the VIPs present on the Dias distributed the prizes to the winning Children and seniors of the tournament.
