A Chance for Arbiters to Learn the Latest Rules
National Engineering College, Kovilpatti on behalf of Thoothukudi District Chess Association and Tamil Nadu State Chess Association is organising a Refresher course for all titled Arbiters (State, Senior National, FIDE and international) of Tamil Nadu on Sunday 30th July. The refresher course focusses on the new rules of Laws of Chess, which has been already implemented from 1st July. Besides topics on basic ideas of pairing and rating and duties of arbiters before and after a tournament will also be discussed, along with other general issues.
There will be a lengthy session on practical case studies, followed by interaction with the participantsto be handled by Prof.R. Anantharam, Councillor, Arbiters’ Commission FIDE and Chairman of Arbiters’ Commission, AICF. Participants may discuss the situations they came across in tournaments and the correct solution for them. Experienced arbiters IA & FI S. Paul Arokiaraj, IA & FI M. Ephrame and IA and NI B. Sakthi Prabhakar will also contribute to the lecture session. Participants are likely to be given priority for appointment as arbiters in future tournaments.
The participants will be divided into a minimum of two batches (may be three depending on the number of participants) to have good interaction and personal attention. National Engineering College has arranged free accommodation, breakfast and lunch to all participants. The college is situated on the Tirunelveli high way, about 3 KMs from new and old bus stands and 4 KMs from Kovilpatti railway station.
