23rd edition of the Adyar Times FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament 2025 was organised by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association at Dhanraj Baid Jain College, Thoraipakkam, Chennai from 2nd to 5th October, 2025.
The tournament cash prize was sponsored by Adyar Times newspaper for the past 23rd years consecutively. Rs. 2.5 lakhs was the total cash prize and spread over 55 cash prizes and glittering trophies for the age category prizes. 384 players from four countries – India, South Korea, Malaysia & USA participated in this mega event.
After the final round, four players with 7 points out of 8 rounds were tied for the first position but better tie breaks helped master Shashveen A K of Chennai to lift the Adyar Times winner trophy and took home cash prize of Rs.35000/- followed by master Hari Ganesh T, master Lukesh A and master Goutham Ramesh stood 2nd , 3rd & 4th respectively.
In the colourful prize distribution function, Shri. Sankaranarayanan N, I.R.S Additional Commissioner of Customs, Chennai was the chief guest and gave the cash prizes and trophies to the winners in presence of Shri. Janakan J P, Managing editor, Adyar Times, Shri. Murugavel B, Vice President, TNSCA, Shri. Stephen Balasamy P, General Secretary, TNSCA, Shri. Srinivasan R, Treasurer, TNSCA, Shri. IA Paul Arokia Raj S, chief arbiter cum coordinator of the tournament.
