24th Tamil Nadu IM Norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament 2024

The 24th edition of Tamil Nadu IM norm closed circuit chess tournament was organised by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association at Hotel Le Palace, Porur, Chennai from 14th to 20th August, 2024.
Opening Ceremony – 24th IM Norm
The tournament was inaugurated by Grandmaster Deepan Chakravarthy J, former Asian Junior Champion in the presence of Thiru. Stephean Balasamy P, General Secretary, TNSCA, Thiru. The tournament featured strong chess players like GM Manik Mikulas (2320) from Slovakia, IM Slizhevsky, Alexander (2381) from Russia, GM Annageldyev, Orazly (2271) from Turkmenistan, IM Gochelashvili, David (2230) from Russia, WGM Uuriintuya, Uurtsaikh (2213) from Mongolia, FM Kunal M (2245), WFM Kalyani Sirin (2221), FM Jaiveer Mahendru (2220), Surendran N (2159), and Raghav V (2056) all from India.
IM Gochelashvili, David (2230), had an exceptional performance. He was leading the event until round 5 with 4.5 points. At the end of round 6, David was joined by FM Kunal M, and they shared the lead with 5 points each. IM David drew his last-round game against IM Alexander Slizhevsky to secure first place with 7 points. FM Kunal M. beat Surendran N to finish runner-up with 7 points. GM Manik Mikulas settled on 3rd spot with 5.5 points.
Outstanding performances made the tournament an exciting and competitive event in the world of chess, with one International Master Norm.
