11th& 12th Tamil Nadu IM Norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournaments
Hemanth Raam of Chennai won the tournament with seven points at the end of the ninth round of the 11thTamil Nadu IM Norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament, organised by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association at Hotel Le Palace today.IM Khusenkhojaev Mohammad of Tajikistan with 6.5 points and Harsh Suresh of Chennai with 6 points finished second and third respectively. HemanthRaam earned his first IM norm from this tournament.
IM Tologon Tegin of Kyrgyzstan won the 12th IM norm tournament
In the 12th norm tournament held simultaneously, IM TologonTeginSemetei of Kyrgyzstan won the tournament with seven and a half points. IM Gochelashvili David of Russia with sixpoints finished second place andIM Buscara Seven of France scored 5.5 points was placed third.
In the prize distribution ceremony held at Hotel Le Palace Sunday Mr. D V Sundar,former FIDE Vice President distributed the prizes to the winners. Mr. Stephen Balasamy Secretary Tamil Nadu State Chess Association welcomed the gathering and Prof. Anantharam proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. B. Murugavel and Mr. V. Vijayaraghavan both vice presidents of TNSCA and Mr. Srinivasan,Treasurer Tamil Nadu State Chess Association also participated.
