Sai Vishwesh & Ravi Teja share lead
Sai Vishwesh of Tamil Nadu and International Master Ravi Teja of RSPB share the lead with 6 points after the 7th round of the 54th National Challengers Chess Championship 2016.
Following the leaders half a point behind at 5.5 points were six players viz., GMs Sunilduth Lyna Narayanan of Kerala, Bakre Tejas of Indian Airlines, R R Laxman of RSPB, IM Rajesh VAV of Airports Authority of India, WGM Gomes Mary Ann of PSPB and Sidhant Mohapatra of Odisha respectively.
Grandmaster R R Laxman and International Master Ravi Tejas both from RSPB played Queen’s Indian and reached the Queen endgame. Tejas centralized Queen actively employed in Pawn hunt and Laxman’s Pawns fallen like an ripened apple. Laxman resigned on move 53.
Once again Sai Vishwesh of Tamil Nadu used his Sicilian c3 magic against Mehar Chenna Reddy of Andhra Pradesh, Sai’s aggressive play made Mehar to make blunder on move 15, which was utilized by Sai with a Knight sacrifice. Sai won the game in the next move.
