R R Laxman out played Sai Vishwesh and in sole lead
Grand Master R R Laxman of RSPB is in sole lead with 5.5 points after the 6th round of the 54th National Challengers Chess Championship 2016 at Amity University Noida. 5 players, Sai Vishwesh of Tamil Nadu, IM Ravi Teja of RSPB, Mehar Chinna Reddy C H of Andhrapradesh, Sunilduth Lyna Narayanan of Kerala, Sidhant Mohapatra of Odisha and are in the second spot with 5 points.
Grand Master R R Laxman of RSPB out played the previous round leader young Sai Vishwesh of Tamil Nadu on the top board. Laxman initiated attack against the Benoni, Sai was unable to Castle on either side, the experienced Laxman didn’t have any difficulty in driving the game into win. Sai lost the game on the move 47, as he could not stop his opponent Pawn’s promotion.
The second board game is also a Benoni between FM Mehar Chinna Reddy C.H of Andhrapradesh and IM Ravi Teja of RSPB. The game ended in a draw on moves 47,as both the players did not take risk in a complicated position.
Grand Master S L Narayanan of Kerala played a safe game against Kunal of Tamil Nadu. Kunal exchanged the pieces and steer the game in to Bishop ending. Narayanan handled the endgame carefully and exploited the isolated pawn of Kunal and won the game.
