The traditional 24th -25th Solar Chess Club of the Dharma Kesari Solar K.S.Subramania Iyer Trust Chess tournament for the School Boys Open (Boys) and Girls was inaugurated by Thirumathi Durga Chandrasekar, Vice-Principal , PSBB, T.Nagar and Thiru R. Muthu Kumar, Editor, Makkal Kural & Trinity Mirror presided over the inaugural meeting.
Thiru A.V.M.K.Shanmugam, Chairman , AVM Rajeswari Educational Tryst & Vice-President of the Chennai District Chess Association inaugurated the Silver Jubilee State chess tournaments. The prize distribution function was presided over Thiru T.K.Ramachandran IAS , Principal Secretary , Information and Technology Department , Government of Tamil Nadu. Kalaimamani Makkal Kural Thiru V.Ramjee felicitated the participants while Thiru C.S.Natarajan participated as a Guest of Honour . Dr .(Mrs) Chandra Ramani , Secretary / convenor of this tournament all these 24 years was given a standing ovation by the participants assembled at both functions.
Thiru V.Kameswaran, India’s first International Arbiter and 2016 FIDE Arbiter Awardee had the unique honour of having conducted the Solar Chess tournaments non-stop for the past 23 years.
