The pride of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association Adyar Times FIDE rated open chess tournament, 2019 was formally inaugurated in a well attended ceremony by India’s first International Master and Arjuna awardee Mr. Manuel Aaron in the presence of Ms. Daffnee Rodgers, Vice Prinicipal, Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chennai, Shri, B,Murugavel, Vice President, TNSCA and Stephen Balasamy, General Secretary, TNSCA on Thursday. A record number of 438 players representing four national chess federations namely Bostwana, France, India and United States are in the fray in this prestigious event.
Sponsored by Adyar Times, the neighbourhood newspaper this traditional event of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association is stepping into the 19th year without any break. This eight round event will come to end on Sunday at the AV Chess Hall and Vidya Peeth Auditorium in Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Gandhi nagar, Chennai, a centrally located popular educational institution of South Chennai.
