Jegatha wins Rachel Paranjothy memorial Chess 2018

Eighth seeded Jegatha B scoring 6.5 points from seven rounds won the 32nd RACHEL PARANJOTHY MEMORIAL CHESS TOURNAMENT FOR WOMEN 2018 that concluded recently at Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai.

Tying with Jegatha at 6.5 points, for the top spot was Poorna Sri M K. Both had six wins & two draws, remaining undefeated. Poorna settled for the Runner-Up slot due to inferior tie-break.

For the top seed and WIM Norm holder Harini S, it was so near yet so far. She shed two half points to the top two girls, taking the third spot with 6.0 points.

162 players including 48 FIDE Rated Women, completed the line-up for this annual Chennai event, held exclusively for women. The prizes were distributed by International Master and Arjuna Awardee Manuel Aaron. The tournament was smoothly conducted by Senior National Arbiter Sunitha Jain and her team.
