The 30th Tamil Nadu State U-17 Open & Girls Chess Championship was organized by Nagapattinam District Chess Association on behalf of All India Chess Federation & Tamil Nadu State Chess Association from 20th to 24th May 2019 at EGS Pillay Engineering College, Nagapattinam.
The Championship was inaugurated by Shri.Manishi Krishna, DGM, F&A (ONGC, Karaikal); Shri B. Siva, District Sports & Youth Welfare Officer, Nagapattinam; Alhaj. Kazi. S ShaikHassan Sahib, Nagore Durgha Hereditary Trustee; Shri S. Shankar Ganesh, Trustee Member, EGS Pillay Group of Institutions. Totally 243 players participated in this championship wherein 75 players in girls section and 168 players in boys section.
On a two way tie between Ayushh & Arunachalam Shiva with 7.5 points in the Open section. But, Ayushh Ravikumar of Chennai beat Arunchalam Shiva in the earlier round and got the title in the Open section, received the cash award of Rs.4,000/- & Trophy.
In the Girls section, there was a five way tie between five players with 7 points. But, the better buchholz favours Divyabharathi M of Chennai to get the title and cash award of Rs.4,000/- & Trophy. The Organizers gave T-shirts to all the players at free of cost.
In the Prize Distribution function, Chief Guests Shri S Arul Prakasam, Managing Trustee & Shri B Siva, District Sports & Youth Welfare Officer, Nagapattinam gave away the prizes to the winners.
