K.Jennitha Anto won the Bronze in 20th International Festival of Chess and Games, Czech open 2009

20th International Festival of Chess and Games, Czech open 2009 was held from 25.7.2009 to 2.8.2009. The Tournament was held under 5 main chess tournament groups. They are A, B, C, D, and E. A for Grandmasters Tournament, B for International Masters Tournament. C for Below 2200 Fide Rated players, D for Below 2000 Rated players and E for Below 1800 Rated players. Nearly 1350 players participated in these 5 main groups. Nearly 58 countries participated.

Jennitha Anto participated in the C group and a lone entry from India. She Secured 4.5 points out of nine rounds. 2 Wins, 5 Drawn and two lose. She met 2 German players, 1 Slovakia, I Latvia, I Armenia and 4 Czech players and the player She met are all gents. In group C nearly 238 players participated among them nearly 30 players are ladies. On the whole the tournament and the playing hall are very fine.

They introduced the prizes for the disabled men and women. These prizes were given from the A to E Groups according to their points and their progressive scores.

Among the gents, these prize were given to the three IM’s who played in the A group. But for the ladies, The Gold Medal goes to Russian player Zykina Nadezhda secured 5.5 point from C group. Second and Third prizes were tied Between Melnik Galina of Russia and K.Jennitha Anto of India. Better progressive score decided and award Silver Medal to Melnik Galina of Russia and the Bronze Medal to K.Jennitha Anto.

Nearly 95 players of Handicapped participated from the above 5 groups. The top four players were selected from each group according to their points. Finally the best three were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Gold Medal: WFM Zykina Nadezhd Russia 5.5 points
Silver Medal: WFM Melnik Galina Russia 4.5 points
Bronze Medal: K.Jennitha Anto India 4.5 points
