Fide Arbiter Seminar at Chennai from 24th to 27th June, 2009

The First FIDE Arbiter's seminar in India was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai - 600 003. from 24th to 27th June, 2009. Mr.Casto Abundo, Deputy President of Asian Chess Federation was the resource person and lecturer and he was ably assisted by Prof.R.Anantharam, International Arbiter and member of the Swiss Pairing Programs Commission, FIDE.
Mr.Abundo lectured in detail of Laws of Chess, Rating and Title regulations and Tournament regulations and the classes were very interactive. Mr.R.Anantharam explained the salient features of Swiss Pairings with example and he also dealt with case studies on all the topics. All the participants were supplied with course materials and power point presentations of the lectures. The classes extended to late evenings, as the aspiring and ambitious arbiters were interested to participants were also equally enthusiastic.
On the final day of the Seminar, Mr.Abundo and Mr.Anantharam gave a review on what the arbiters learnt on the previous three days. At the end of the session, the participants attended the examination, which, consisted of objective multiple choice questions.
