The 5th Thangam State level Chess Tournament-2017 was held on 25th & 26th November 2017. On 25th November, morning the tournament was inaugurated by Sri. Jagadeesan, Chairman, Thangam group, in the Presence of Director Mr. Raja & Mrs. Meenakshi, Principal – Thangam Mount Litera Zee School, Mr. Mohanraj of The Elite Club of Chess.
Tarun V & Jaysree S of Salem won the 1st Prize in U16 Boys & Girls Category Respectively, at Salem 5th Thangam Children Chess Tournament. The following are the First Prize Winners,

U-9 Girls: Kanishkaa C, Salem 8/9 Points
U-11 Boys: Arul Anandh SPK, Coimbatore 7.5/9 Points

U-13 Boys: Sriram B, Trichy 8/9 Points
U-13 Girls: Neha M B, Cuddalore 6.5/9 Points
U-16 Boys: Tarun V, Salem 8/9 Points
U-16 Girls: Jaya Sree S, Salem 7.5/9 Points
A Total no. of 561 Participants from 14 Districts of Tamil Nadu
Participated. On 26th November, 2017 International Master “Nitin S” of Salem was the Chief Guest and presided over the Prize Distribution function and gave away the prizes to the winners in the presence of Mr. J.Balakrushnan, President SDCA, Mr. G.Mathivanan, Secretary The Elite Club of Chess, Chairman Mr. Jagadeesan, Director Mr. Raja & Principal Mrs. Meenakshi of Thangam Mount Litera Zee School.
