21st Tamil Nadu State U -25 Chess Championship-2019 for Open and Girls was organized by Namakkal District Chess Foundation & Prime Chess Academy from 02-05-2019 to 06-05-2019 at Sri Vidhya Mandir Educational Institutions, Rasipuram. Mr. Chandra Sekar Secretary, Sri Vidhya Mandir School, inaugurated the Championship in the presence of Mr. S Gnanasekaran, Secretary, NDCF.
135 players in the Open Section and 54 players in the girls section from various district participated in this championships. Prasanna S of Tiruvallur and Harivaridhini I of Tiruvallur were the top seed in the open and girls section.
At the end of fifth round top seed Prasanna lost to Kumar, two players Kumar of Chennai and Sibi Visal of Namakkal were jointly lead the tournament with five points. Game between the leaders ended up in a draw resulting with three share lead at the end of sixth round. At the end of penultimate round Kumar and Sibi Vishsal were leading the tournament with 7.0 points. In the crucial final round Kumar of Chennai clinched the title with 8.0 points, while the other leader Sibi Vishal lost to Prasanna who finished the second spot with 7.5 points.
Leaha of Kanyakumari upsets the top seed Harivardhini in the 3rd round. Two players Thamarai Selvi and Leaha share the lead with 4.0 points at the end of fourth round. Thamarai Selvi become the sole leader in the fifth round by defeating the other leader Leaha. Thamarai Selvi maintained the lead in the sixth round closely followed by Janani, Induleka, Jayasree and Mridula with 5.0 points. In the seventh round Janani defeated Thamarai Selvi and jointly lead the tournament with Jayasree with 6.0 points. Janani took the lead in the eighth round by winning her game against the other leader Jayasree. Janani Drew the final round and clinched the title with 7.5 points. Thamaraselvi secured the second spot with 7.0 points.
Prizes were distributed by Mr. Sivakumar, President, Rasipuram Rotary Club, Mr. S Gnanasekaran, Secretary, Ndcf-Namakkal, Mr. Dr.VS Ramesh, President, Ndcf-Namakkal, Mr. R Anantharam, Vice President, TNSCA, Chairman, Arbiters’ Commission, TNSCA & AICF and Mr.M.Senthilvel, Joint Secretary, TNSCA.
Other Guests present on the dais were Mr. Murali, Secretary, Rasipuram Rotary Club, Mr. Balu V, Ex. Mc , Dr. Rajesh Babu , Dr. Mathiventhan, Dr. B.Sukumar, Mr. Sudhajayakumar and Dr. R.Puviyarasu.
