17th Adyar Times FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament, 2017

H.Balasubramaniam of Padma Seshadri Higher Secondary School, K.K. Nagar, Chennai emerged as the champion of the 17th Adyar Times FIDE rated Open chess Tournament, 2017 which got concluded today at the Montfort Indoor Stadium, Santhome Higher Secondary, Chennai. A student of eighth student, PSBB School, master H.Balasubramaniam carried home winner’s prize of Rs. 25,000/- He demonstrated a great kill in taming former Tamil Nadu State champion Ram S Krishnan in the seventh and the final round to set a winner’s target of 6.5 points . In a three way tie for the first place Balasubrananiam  was adjudged as the champion on account of better bucholtz score. The runner up was R. Ashwath of Chennai who  became richer by Rs. 15,000/-. Third place went to school boy  Manu David Suthandaram. In a glittering prize distribution ceremony Shri. A.D.Ranjan, Editor and Publisher, Adyar Times gave away the prizes in the presence of Shri. Manuel Aaron, India’s first International Master, Bro. A.Stanilaus, Head Master and correspondent, Santhome Higher Secondary Scool and Shri. R. Muthu Kumar, Editor and Publisher, Trinity Mirror and Makkal Kural.
